Associate Professor Ric Haslam

Clinical Interests: 

Mental health difficulties in children and adolescents; diagnosis and interventions for developmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD; addressing anxiety in children; supporting and empowering parents and caregivers; improving skills and outcomes for children

 

Background:

Ric completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne and then specialist training in paediatrics at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. In 2017 he completed with distinction the MSc in child and adolescent mental health at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience in London. He has held leadership roles in child and adolescent mental health at Austin Health and the most recently at the Royal Children’s Hospital as Director of Mental Health.

 

Research:

Ric has collaborated on numerous projects including integrating care between GPs and child mental health specialists, developing services for children with mental health challenges, evaluating medications for ADHD and ASD and screening children for mental health difficulties.
