Melbourne Children's Clinic
Melbourne Children's Clinic response to Corona Virus Covid 19
Practitioners and staff at MCC are committed to protecting our staff, patients & the wider community from the risk of transmission of Covid 19 virus.
We are a specialist paediatric clinic and do not provide assessment and treatment for acutely unwell children.
You should NOT attend Melbourne Children's Clinic in person for your scheduled appointment if:
· your child
· household contact
· close contact (>15 minutes face to face contact or two hours in the same room)
· Returned from overseas in the last two weeks
· Have symptoms such as cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, shortness of breath
· Confirmed/suspected Covid 19 infection
In these circumstances we can provide telehealth consultation via video conference or phone.
In response to the escalating concern in Victoria and the recommendations for social distancing, many of our practitioners are offering or moving completely to 'virtual consultations' via video conferencing. This is the best way to enable you and your kids to stay at home, and for us to keep you and ourselves safe. If you have a smart phone or a laptop/ computer or iPad you will be able to use this technology.
Medicare currently provides a rebate for telehealth consultations for patients living in rural areas and there are some new item numbers for vulnerable patients and patients with confirmed or suspected Covid 19 who are under quarantine. Psychologists also have Medicare item numbers to be used for Telehealth consultations. Otherwise telehealth consultations will need to be billed privately and not claimed through Medicare.
Please contact reception for further details and to arrange telehealth consultation or to reschedule.
Patients and family who are attending in person are asked to check in at reception then wait in their car; you will be phoned by the practitioner when they are ready to see you.
Our staff are adhering to strict hand hygeine and the surfaces in the clinic are disnfected regularly and in between patients.
Please use the hand sanitiser provided at reception on arrival and on departure, and please pay by card, not cash.
If you are attending in person, we ask that only one parent or carer attends with your child and that other siblings remain at home if possible.
If you or your child is acutely unwell with possible symptoms of Covid 19 virus you should call your GP or the Covid 19 Hotline on 1800 675 398.
