Dr Claire Mauer MB.BS, FRACP, MPH
Clinical Interests
Claire is a highly experienced general paediatrician with more than 20 years of caring for children across the full spectrum of paediatrics. Her clinical interests span behavioural and developmental paediatrics — including ADHD, developmental delay and learning difficulties — where she is known for her thoughtful, practical and family‑centred approach.
She has extensive experience in childhood allergies, having completed additional allergy training at the Royal Children’s Hospital and worked for several years in a specialist allergy clinic. Claire also has a strong interest in supporting children with toileting concerns such as constipation and bedwetting, as well as managing growth concerns and feeding difficulties.
Across all areas of practice, Claire is passionate about partnering with families to build confidence and capacity, helping them support their child’s development, wellbeing and everyday functioning.
Background and Experience
Claire graduated from Monash University in 1987 and began her career as a general practitioner before undertaking specialist paediatric training in both New South Wales and Victoria. During this time, she balanced the demands of medical training with raising two children and completed a Master of Public Health, strengthening her understanding of population health and preventative care.
Since joining MCC in 2007, Claire has brought a wealth of experience from both community and hospital paediatrics. She works collaboratively with children, parents, teachers and allied health professionals to deliver holistic, family‑centred care. She considers it a privilege to support families through challenges and milestones, helping make daily life smoother and improving long‑term outcomes for children.
Claire is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and a member of the Australasian Society of Developmental Paediatrics (ASDP). She is also fluent in French and German.
